Remote Learning

Aldersbrook Primary School Remote Education Plan

Guide for Parents – Nursery to Year 6

Aldersbrook has a planned remote curriculum, for all year groups, in the event it is needed. This is based on the Oak Academy but reflects the Aldersbrook Curriculum so learning still happens.

All remote education will be posted on your child’s Google Classroom Account

Please contact the school office or class teacher if you have lost your login details.

Please note that we do not expect work to be completed by children who are unwell.

This is what you should expect to receive:

If your child is isolating:
  • Work will be set daily on Google Classroom. This will provide Maths, English and other subject activities in line with your child’s curriculum.
How will my child be taught remotely?
  • Pupils will be taught through a range of approaches. These will include:
  • Work Assignments via Google Classroom across all curriculum areas
  • Reading books that pupils may have at home
  • Research
  • Commercially available websites supporting the teaching of specific subject or areas, including video clips or sequences (please see website for many great examples you could use)
If my child does not have digital or online access at home, how will you support them to access remote education?
  • We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. If you need support with a device or with online access, please contact us.
  • IPads will be loaned to families that have limited/ no access to devices and all Pupil Premium families will have a Chromebook offered to them for use at home.
  • Support with Wifi is available through Vodaphone SIM cards if required- please contact the office.
Additional support for pupils with particular needs

How will you work with me to help my child who needs additional support from adults at home to access remote education?

  • We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils
  • Teaching staff will differentiate work on Google Classroom to meet the needs of pupils (where appropriate)

If your child needs to access their Google Classroom and has trouble logging in, please email admin.aldersbrook@redbridge.gov.uk

During the pandemic, our children have been actively engaged with their learning from home. The work that has been sent in on our remote learning application over the past few weeks have been of an extremely high quality.

We would like to thank all the parents, children and teachers who have worked tirelessly to ensure that life has transitioned as smoothly as possible.

Here are some excellent examples of the learning that has been going on at home on Seesaw across all year groups. Enjoy!
